On Friday, March 11, Sage was proud to be part of the Edmonton Realtor's Community Foundation's Big Give, where we were awarded a grant to help support seniors dealing with the effects of hoarding.
Sage’s This Full House Program offers practical and emotional supports to older adults who are living with the effects of hoarding - the excessive accumulation of possessions that can threaten safety and health, and place seniors at risk of injury, social isolation, and emotional distress.
As part of this program, we offer a monthly support group that provides an opportunity for these seniors to share and connect with others who have had similar experiences, and provides a meaningful connection that helps them as they move through their individual plans to address their hoarding behaviour.
The support group has been running since 2009, and this year, Sage identified a need to add a second, structured therapeutic group that can work through a specific curriculum focused on maintaining a clutter-free home. This second group requires a qualified therapist to facilitate the sessions and execute its curriculum.
Thanks to the Realtor's Community Foundation, we are happy to say that we will be able to offer this important service to our seniors - big thanks for the Big Give!
