Temporary Office Coordinator

The Office Coordinator position has significant impact on the culture and operations of Sage Seniors Association, as the individual in this role supports the broader staff team in their day to day work.

This position is responsible for coordinating the office administrative functions within Sage and providing support to staff.  This position will also assist with service calls and IT troubleshooting.

This is a temporary position to support Sage’s administrative functions (26hrs/week). There is potential for this role to move to permanent, full time.

Qualifications of this position include:

  • Diploma in Office Management or suitable equivalent;
  • 1–3 years of progressive admin support to management;
  • Experience using Microsoft Office programs, including Microsoft Teams and Sharepoint;
  • Experience troubleshooting basic IT issues.

Safe House Coordinator

This position works collaboratively with the staff team of the Sage Seniors’ Safe House, a shelter for older adults who require safety from abuse. It is responsible for providing trauma informed support within an anti-oppressive framework. In addition to conducting intake and risk assessments, this position coordinates services and provides system navigation as required by program clients. Along with case management and safety planning, this position will assist in informing potential referral sources about the service, coordinating the services provided by the participating agencies and working with the various agencies to ensure the needs of the clients are met.

Qualifications of this position include: 

  • Registered Social Worker preferred;
  • Hold a valid First Aid Certificate;
  • Undergo Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector.

The position is a permanent, full-time (35 hours/week) job opportunity. This position may be required to work outside these hours based on client/program demands. $42,448 base rate per annum. Rates above the base rate will be considered based on assessment of the successful candidate’s education, skills, previous experience and other factors.

Case Management Coordinator: Part-Time 12 Month Contract

The Case Management Coordinator is responsible for providing cross-cultural, comprehensive, holistic services and system navigation to older adults who identify as South Asian experiencing elder abuse in the community of Edmonton. This position will work in collaboration with Seniors’ Safe House team, the Shama Centre, the Seniors Protection Partnership (SPP) team and other community service agencies to best meet the specialized needs of each individual. The Coordinator will provide culturally appropriate intervention and support that builds on the Immigrant Seniors Project Coordinated Community Response to elder abuse in Edmonton. In addition to working directly with older adults who have experienced abuse, the Case Management Coordinator will provide education, consultation and support to community members and leaders, natural helpers and partner organizations about elder abuse and related issues. The Case Manager will support partners in creating sustainable relationships, supports and networks that will continue beyond the one year contract.

Qualifications of this position include:

  • Must have fluency in Hindi, Punjabi and/or Urdu;
  • Social Work diploma or degree with ACSW registration an asset;
  • Undergo Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector.

This is a part-time, 17 hours/week, temporary contract position for one year commencing September 01, 2021. This position may be required to work outside these hours based on client/program demands. $23.32/hour is the base rate of compensation. Rates above the base rate will be considered on assessment of the successful candidate’s education, skills, previous experience and other factors.

Assessment, Supports and Housing Coordinator: Temporary Full-Time Position

This position provides assessment, information, referral, support and system navigation to older adults addressing basic needs as well as social and emotional needs as identified by the individual. This includes assisting the older adult in becoming familiar with housing options, support when making a decision to downsize homes and provide referrals in regards to landlord tenancy issues. Other tasks include helping older adults prioritize their needs and make informed referral as necessary as well as responding to calls from families of older adults, community members and professionals regarding available resources. These responsibilities will be done via telephone, through email or other virtual means unless arrangements have been made to meet in person with a safe distancing plan and with the use of PPE.

In addition, this position keeps up to date on resources and identifies opportunities for improved services for seniors during Covid-19.

Qualifications of this position include: 

  • Be eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Work;
  • Experience in the Human Services field;
  • Knowledge of seniors resources and Senior Housing options in Edmonton;
  • Undergo Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector is required.
