A Poem by a Previous Safe House Resident

“THE HOUSE”

LEARNING…
ABOUT YOURSELF, OTHERS…
THIS IS LIFE –
RESPECT FOR YOURSELF, OTHERS…

THE HOUSE, SAFE HOUSE…
SEARCHING FOR YOURSELF…
FINDING YOURSELF AGAIN…
IN THIS FAMILY…
IN THIS HOUSE…

MEMORIES ARE BUT MOMENTS…
AT CERTAIN CROSSROADS…
TIME WILL STAND STILL…
THE HOUSE WILL REMAIN…
THE WELCOMING DOOR EVER OPEN…
YOU REAP WHAT YOU SOW…
ANGELS CRY, WHEN YOU CRY.
ANGELS LAUGH, WHEN YOU LAUGH.
LOVE IS ETERNAL – ALIVE…
UNDERSTAND THIS, IT IS SO…

YOU MUST LEARN…
TO LOVE YOURSELF AGAIN…
LOVE OTHERS…
WITHOUT JUDGMENT OR FEAR…

IN THE HOUSE…
YOU EXIST, YET ANOTHER MOMENT…
THE PAIN OF YESTERDAY…
SLOWLY, SLOWLY RECEDES..

I HEAR A CLOCK TICKING LOUDER…
I HEAR MY CREATORS’ VOICE…
IN THIS PLACE, IN MY HEART…
IN THIS HOUSE, IN MY SOUL…
HE WILL SPEAK WITH YOU…
HE WILL UNDERSTAND YOU…
HE WILL GIVE YOU PEACE…

- A poem given to the Safe House staff by a previous resident.
