Research participants needed in study about rental discrimination

Posted on January 13 2022

Researchers at the Institute of Urban Studies (IUS) at the University of Winnipeg are seeking participants in a research study called "Denied Renting: The Experience of Rental Discrimination in Canada."

If you are a senior (55+) that has experienced discrimination when applying for rental housing, by your landlord while living in rental housing, or when leaving your rental housing, researchers would like to hear from you.

• Participation involves a 1-hour interview by phone at a day and time convenient for you.

• The discriminatory event must have happened more than 2 years ago, and less than 5.

The goals of this project are to better understand the experience of rental housing discrimination at all stages of a tenancy, in order to develop strategies to prevent discrimination in rental housing.

For more information, or if you would like to participate or have any questions, please contact the researcher Scott McCullough by email s.mccullough@uwinnipeg.ca or phone: 204-982-1150.
