The successful candidate will provide food services support when staff are on vacation or not available due to illness. Assist with preparing daily specials, soups, baking and cold line preparation of breakfast, grill orders, sandwiches and other line products. General cleaning throughout the day and complete cleaning at the close of the day. Assists all volunteers on cash and ware washing.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 1-2 years related experience;
  • Food Safety Certificate an asset;
  • Undergo Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector.

SKILLS and EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working with seniors and volunteers;
  • Ability to work independently and with other staff members and volunteers;
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills;
  • Ability to interact with seniors in a respectful manner;
  • Experience handling and reconciling cash;
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds;
  • Must be reliable and dependable;
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and oral.

The position is a casual job opportunity. Anytime needed between Monday through Friday from 7am - 3pm. Flexibility is required. Closed on all statutory holidays between Christmas and New Year. $16.32 - $23.82 per hour, depending on the qualifications and experience of the applicant.

COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR (Permanent Full-time)

Community engagement at Sage Seniors Association (Sage) includes fund development, sponsorship, member and donor stewardship, major events, publications, communications, adult education and professional development, public relations, student engagement, life enrichment, and volunteer services.

The Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Community Engagement team to ensure effective communication of Sage’s programs and services; foster goodwill and partnership across senior serving sectors; and prepare information, resources, and other materials for broad dissemination to seniors, their families, caregivers, senior-serving professionals, and other stakeholders.

Community engagement is a critical means of informing and engaging seniors and the community in the services that Sage provides. Sage’s ability to meet the needs of our clients, to engage our funders and donors, and effectively engage our stakeholders, depends on our ability to communicate effectively. The Communications Coordinator works with the Community Engagement and Leadership teams to plan, coordinate, develop, and disseminate quality materials that position Sage as a leader in the sector, and help ensure seniors are aware of and connected to essential resources.

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for the production of all of Sage’s communications materials and for managing Sage’s online presence. The Sage website is an important element of our communications services. The Communications Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the potential of our website is maximized, and that content is current, easily accessible, and relevant.

The successful candidate will have a diploma or degree in Public Relations, English, Marketing, or Communications degree or diploma or equivalent experience; 3 to 5 years of experience in a communications environment; previous experience working with volunteers; Undergo Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector is required.

This is a permanent full-time position, 35 hours a week. $42,448 base rate per annum. Rates above the base rate will be considered based on assessment of the successful candidate’s education, skills, previous experience and other factors.

HEALTH SERVICES NAVIGATOR (Temporary Full-time)

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing outreach, case-finding and follow-up services addressing the health, social and emotional needs of older adults through assessment, support, connecting to resources, and system navigation. They will also foster social supports by connecting them to seniors’ centres and other community resources to increase their social connections. The successful candidate will

be aware of barriers to access and be able how to assist older adults in navigating complex health and other systems.

These services may be offered at Sage or in the community, depending on the needs of the senior being served.

Qualifications of this position include:

  • Bachelor degree and registered Social Worker with the ACSW or able to be registered with ACSW;
  • Experience in the Human and Health Services field preferably with seniors;
  • Knowledge of health systems for seniors, including transitions of care;
  • Knowledge of resources for seniors in Edmonton;
  • Undergo Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector;
  • Have (and be prepared to use) a vehicle and possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license;
  • Be able to obtain $2 million auto liability insurance.

The position is a temporary full-time (35 hours/week) job opportunity for approximately 9 to 15 months. $42, 448 base rate per annum. Rates above the base rate will be considered based on assessment of the successful candidate’s education, skills, previous experience and other factors.

VIRTUAL SENIORS CENTRE PROJECT COORDINATOR (Temporary)

At Sage Seniors Association, a powerful sense of mission influences everything we do. To do this well, to strive to be the best we can be at it, we need great people who are eager to join that mission.

Sage is leveraging its online presence to make programs and services more accessible to seniors who are homebound, living with disabilities, experiencing mobility challenges, or unable to visit Sage due to transportation or other barriers; as well as seniors who are not fluent or comfortable communicating in English. Sage will work with community partners to create a virtual seniors centre that provides online programming and fellowship, access to resources, and interactive assistance for seniors who are experiencing isolation and/or vulnerability in their homes.

We are seeking a Virtual Project Coordinator to oversee the planning, execution, and implementation of our Virtual Seniors Centre Project. This position will work closely with the Director of Research and Community Engagement to ensure that the scope and direction of on target, and engage seniors, partners, and other stakeholders throughout the project.

The successful candidate will have a diploma or degree in Marketing/Communications, Human Ecology, Gerontology or other relevant education, experience working or volunteering with seniors and content development experience are preferred. To undergo Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector is required.

This is a temporary position ending December 31, 2020. Hours of work will range from 15-30 hours a week depending on the needs of the project. $23.32 – $33.63 per hour depending on the qualifications and experience of the applicant.
