SOCIAL SERVICE ASSISTANT (Canada Summer Jobs Position)

PROGRAM: SENIORS SAFE HOUSE SHELTER

The Social Services Assistant will work in collaboration with the Safe House team to provide trauma informed support for older adults experiencing elder abuse. This position provides information, referral, support and system navigation to older adults. This includes assisting clients with assessing and prioritizing their needs, liaising with families, community members and professionals, and assisting in carrying out case plans. Other responsibilities include responding to shelter intake calls, conducting risk assessments, organizing intake assessments, developing safety plans and accessing relevant support from community services.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to meet the requirement of the Canada Summer Jobs program (must be between 15-30 years of age, and have Canadian Citizenship, or Permanent Resident or Refugee status and a valid Social Insurance Number)
  • Preference given to candidates who have Post-Secondary education in Social Work or a related Human Services field
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Word
  • Proficient planning, writing and organizational skills
  • Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector is required
  • Experience working with older adults and volunteers is an asset
  • Experience working with diverse cultures is an asset

ASSESSMENT SUPPORTS AND HOUSING ASSISTANT (Canada Summer Jobs Position)

PROGRAM: SOCIAL WORK OUTREACH

The Social Work student will provide this support through connecting older adults to daily living and social support in the community. This could include assistance in accessing food resources, transportation, physical activities, volunteer opportunities or assistance in filling out forms. The Social Work Assistant will also provide assessment, information, referral, support and system navigation to older adults addressing basic needs as well as social and emotional needs as identified by the individual. The goal of this position is to assist older adults to age safely in place.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to meet the requirement of the Canada Summer Jobs program (must be between 15-30 years of age, and have Canadian Citizenship, or Permanent Resident or Refugee status and a valid Social Insurance Number)

COMMUNITY ANIMATION ASSISTANT (Canada Summer Jobs Position)

PROGRAM: COMMUNITY ANIMATION

The Community Animation Program seeks to foster relational connections, facilitate senior-led community development and bolster social support networks for seniors who may be isolated new to Canada or low-resourced. The Community Animation Assistant will work in collaboration with the Community Animation team to support the delivery of programs.

SENIORS OUTREACH COORDINATOR (CASUAL POSITION)

PROGRAM: SENIORS SOCIAL WORK SERVICES

The Outreach Coordinator will address the social and emotional needs of older adults through assessment, support, and connecting to resources based on individualized case plans. This position will work collaboratively with other workers and organizations to provide services, as well as identifying gaps in services and advocating for the needs of clients. The goal of the program is to support the wellbeing of the senior and enhance their wellness in the long term. This program is delivered with commitment to equity, inclusion and honouring cultural and social diversities.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Registered Social Worker with ACSW
  • Relevant degree or diploma
  • Assessment, interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills required
  • Self-motivated; able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Computer literacy including Microsoft Office
  • Proficient communication and collaboration skills
  • Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector is required
  • Vehicle required; valid class 5 driver’s license and $2 million auto liability insurance

This position is a casual position to fill vacancies on an as-needed basis. The location is in person at 15 Sir Winston Churchill Square in Edmonton. The starting pay range of this position is $23.32 - $28.82 per hour. Pay level considerations are based on assessment of the successful candidate’s education, skills, previous experience and other factors. This is a non-benefitted position but the compensation includes 6% vacation pay. Sage also provides full re-imbursement for annual Social Work Registration fees as well as annual liability insurance premiums.

SOCIAL PRESCRIBING MANAGER

SOCIAL PRESCRIBING PROGRAM

The successful candidate will be responsible for training and overseeing a team of employees who are working together to link seniors who have been referred into this program with resources and supports in the community. The Manager will be responsible for intake and triage of referrals and will help to resolve complex Social Work intervention cases. This position will be involved with developing and implementing program policies and procedures as well as collecting evaluation data and reporting. They will facilitate supporting the health and well-being of seniors by collaborating with other partners as this is a joint initiative with several other organizations.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE

  • Social Work degree or diploma
  • Registered Social Worker with the ACSW is required
  • Must provide a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector Search
  • Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid Class 5 driver’s license; $2 million auto liability insurance
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Previous Supervisory or Management experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of community resources and services related to older adults

This position is a permanent full-time career opportunity. The starting salary range is between $49,105 - $57,207 plus 100% Employer paid Health & Dental plan, 5% matched Pension plan and re-imbursed ACSW registration fees. Salary considerations are based on assessment of the successful candidate’s education, skills, previous experience and other factors. Sage offers an outstanding work life balance with a 35-hour work week, 3 weeks of vacation to start plus the last week of December off with pay, and generous sick leave accruals. PROJECT SPECIALIST

RCHA PROJECT

The Project Specialist will work closely with Northern Alberta Regional Centre for Healthy Aging, which promotes a holistic approach to healthy aging through knowledge sharing, research and community engagement. They will also oversee the implementation of frailty assessment tools by providing leadership and training to enable the use of the tools in front line work. The Project Specialist will also engage with other community organizations to implement and promote the benefits of the developed assessment tools, identify barriers to use and provide trouble-shooting assistance. This position also includes program development and data collection and evaluation.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in a related field
  • Provide Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector

  • Experience in community engagement and public education
